The department of chemistry was started in 1970 with undergraduate courses both in Tamil and English medium. The PG course was established in 2016 and upgraded as Research department. Currently 15 scholars are pursuing their research in our department. About eight students have been awarded with Ph.D. We used to conduct chemistry Association meeting regularly to explore skill and knowledge of students. We organized seminar at National level in 2018 and a national level symposium in 2019. We extended our vision to college teachers through In-service training. Our students eagerly participated in various intra, inter collegiate level competitions and won numerous prizes to our credit. We took our PG students to industry as field visit. As a part of social work, the students of UG and PG students extended their support to old age home, orphanages etc. Our students are excel in academics by receiving various ranks in the university level.
