Department of History

The Department of History was established in the year 1971. In 1971 History was introduced as a graduation course and was raised to the status of a post graduate department in the year 2013. It was upgraded as a research Centre in 2015. At Present there are twelve faculties working in the Department of History. The department has produced 20 Ph.D. Scholars. The students studied in the department of history has occupied various positions. The department of history has actively involved in teaching and research and contributed a lot to the society. The department encourages the students to participate in various cultural programs, conferences, seminars competitions, sports and other activities

  • To compile the brave deeds of the heroes of Tirunelveli Region to find their place in history as continuation of the Celebrations of 75th Year of Indian Independence.
